Support Services

Setting the standard for care and support.

We are known among Connecticut funeral homes for our strong belief in providing support and resources to you after the funeral is over. This is often the hardest time for any family, and why we don’t consider our job done when friends and relatives usher out of the funeral service.

Bereavement Group: Stratford, CT

Our Lady of Peace Bereavement Ministry provides support for adults grieving the loss of a loved one. The bereavement ministry seeks to provide a safe place where the bereaved can gain an understanding of the grief process, have the opportunity to talk through their experiences, and explore their thoughts and feelings with others who are also grieving the loss of a loved one. Doing so will assist the bereaved in working through their grief on their journey to healing so that they, once again, will be able to enjoy a happy and productive life with memories of their loved one.

It is a structured 10 - week program using the book, "The New Day Journal - A Journey from Grief to Healing" written by Mauryeen O'Brien. The New Day Seminar is a 10 week series that helps the newly bereaved with the tasks of grieving.  Each session provides a place and time for individuals to share their grief story and to learn about the grieving process and its tasks for healing. Listening to others gives the participant a perspective with which to begin healing.  Sharing one's experience, feelings and pain is one step in becoming aware that you are not alone.

Trained facilitators will conduct the seminar.  They are people who have experienced grief in their lives and are able to move with the group through the tasks of grief.
